BIOTECH HISTORY OF CBG BIOTECH How CBG Biotech Got Started CBG Biotech had its conceptual beginning around 1987 when one of its key people began research aimed at developing new reagents and solvents for use in histology and cytology. Among the new materials discovered at that time was a family of solvents that could be used to replace xylene and toluene. Not only did these replacement solvents act essentially the same as xylene and toluene, but more importantly, they did not have the toxicities, teratogenicity, carcinogenicity, noxious odors and flammabilities that are associated with xylene and toluene. Unfortunately, however, most laboratories were challenged to make their switch because their costs were about twice those of xylene and toluene. Then in 1994, we recognized that if these solvents were recycled, their effective operating costs would drop significantly, and laboratories might then switch over to these new solvents. The initial "research" on this project actually consisted of interviewing large numbers of histologists and other laboratory workers to find out what they needed and what they wanted. When the interviewing was finally completed, we had a "wish list" with more than 73 different requirements. This, in turn, led to the development of a Solvent Recycler that was totally different than any other solvent recycler that had ever been commercially available. Since 1996, when our first Solvent Recyclers were offered for sale, CBG Biotech has become not only the primary supplier of fractional distillation solvent recyclers in the world, but we have become one of the main innovators in this field. In addition to the first single-solvent Recyclers, we now offer Recyclers that can recycle several different solvents and/or formalin to reduce the volume of waste. Our market is no longer limited to just histology and cytology laboratories. We now offer Recyclers for any hospital, medical, research or university facility. Our goals are to provide our customers with economical ways to achieve safe working areas and a clean environment. | |||||||
